Abstract
The thesis "Diagnosis and Proposal for the Optimization of Production and Distribution Costs at CADECA" analyzes the operations of the Sosoa Plant and the Tiloarque Distribution Center, aiming to identify the main factors contributing to high operating costs and to propose improvements that increase efficiency without affecting the final consumer. CADECA, part of Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI), operates in a highly competitive environment and has faced a steady increase in costs, despite previous efforts such as SKU rationalization. The study, based on theories of demand planning, constraints, and supply chain management, revealed shortcomings in preventive maintenance, high levels of product loss (10%–12%), and a high incidence of failed deliveries (88%). In response, a comprehensive plan is proposed, focused on three main pillars: implementation of a preventive maintenance manual; development of an integrated proposal to reduce product loss, aimed at improving yield during processing and product valorization; and redesign of logistical routes. These actions seek to improve CADECA’s profitability and strengthen its position in the Honduran poultry industry.
