Abstract
The community of Juan Ramón Morales, located in the municipality of El Progreso, Yoro, is experiencing a shortage of potable water resources. This is due to the inefficiency of the existing supply and distribution lines, as well as the limited storage capacity of the designated water storage tank for the community. This issue, stemming from its inefficient design, will not guarantee the necessary supply for the community’s population to have access to potable water 24 hours a day. As an initial proposal to address the community’s problem, a topographic study of the existing supply line is suggested, confirming both the highest and lowest points, which are 137 meters above sea level from the source to the potable water storage tank, the lowest point of the supply line at 108.18 meters above sea level, and from there to 99.515 meters above sea level at the first house for the potable water distribution line. One identified problem in the community is that the water tank does not meet the necessary supply requirements, leaving several members without access to this vital resource for their daily subsistence. This has led to repeated interruptions in the supply of potable water. The study conducted, aimed at analyzing optimal routes, indicates that the distance from the source or the point where water is captured to the tank is 608.51 meters, analyzed using 2-inch diameter piping. To resolve the initial problem, it is proposed to design, analyze, and construct a larger capacity tank with a volume of 25,000 gallons, as the currently available tank has a capacity of 11,900 gallons and preliminarily does not meet the requirements to solve the water shortage issue in the community of Juan Ramón Morales, El Progreso, Yoro.
