dc.description.abstract | La presente investigación analiza el beneficio de introducir a la matriz energética hondureña una central de energía nuclear de 325 MW en el departamento de Olancho. Una central de energía nuclear de 325 MW podría sustituir un 33% de la generación de energía que están produciendo actualmente las generadoras térmicas, estas generadoras junto a las hidroeléctricas son las que están cubriendo actualmente las horas de mayor demanda energética que son en horario nocturno. El reactor seleccionado para instalar fue un reactor de agua a presión VBER-300 de origen ruso. La localización de la central nuclear sería en el departamento de Olancho, ya que este es el único departamento de Honduras que cumple todos los requisitos geográficos para la instalación de una central nuclear. El estudio técnico-económico de la central muestran un costo de generación de energía de $0.02/kWh y un payback en 9 años. Con una central de energía nuclear en Honduras se estima que el ahorro anual de CO2 sería de 1,286.945 kg/GW. | |

dc.description.abstractenglish | This research analyzes the benefit of introducing a 325 MW nuclear power plant in the department of Olancho to the Honduran energy matrix. A nuclear power plant of 325 MW could replace 33% of the power generation that thermal generators are currently producing, these generators together with hydroelectric plants are the ones that are currently covering the hours of greatest energy demand that are at night. The reactor selected for installation was a VBER-300 pressurized water reactor of Russian origin. The location of the nuclear power plant would be in the department of Olancho, since this is the only department in Honduras that meets all the geographical requirements for the installation of a nuclear power plant. The technical-economic study of the plant shows an energy generation cost of $0.02/kWh and a payback in 9 years. With a nuclear power plant in Honduras, it is estimated that the annual CO2 savings would be 1,286,945 kg/GW. | |
