Abstract
This research analyzes the current situation of maintenance and control of computer equipment at the National University of Agriculture (UNAG), aiming to evaluate its impact on operational efficiency, continuity of technological services, and management of IT resources. Through a mixed-method approach, the main strengths and weaknesses of the current system were identified. The results highlight significant advantages such as the standardization of preventive maintenance processes and centralized management of technological resources, which contribute to greater operational stability. However, critical limitations were revealed, including the lack of unified intervention protocols, the predominance of reactive over predictive maintenance, and insufficient staff training in new technologies. The study concludes that implementing a comprehensive maintenance model, based on international standards and continuous monitoring technologies, could significantly improve equipment availability, reduce operational costs, and optimize investment in technological resources, thereby ensuring the continuity of academic and administrative services that depend on the institutional IT infrastructure.
