Tegucigalpa, as the capital of Honduras, concentrates the largest offering of higher education in the country, attracting students from various regions. However, the lack of student housing designed for foreign students limits the accessibility and quality of higher education. Factors such as high housing costs, traffic, and poor urban infrastructure negatively impact the quality of life for these students, hindering their university experience. An exhaustive study of the socio-economic and educational context of Honduras was carried out, focusing on the factors that influence access to higher education for foreign students. Data on the current availability of student housing, including its availability, characteristics, costs, and location, were collected and analyzed. A study of the needs and preferences of foreign students regarding accommodation was also conducted. This research goes beyond a superficial analysis of the current situation of student housing in Tegucigalpa. It includes a study of the origin and evolution of universities in the Honduran capital, contextualizing the problem within a historical perspective. Based on this analysis, the origin of the Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana (UNITEC) is examined, highlighting the vision of its founders and the comprehensive experience it offers to students. This information is used to strengthen the proposal for student housing within the UNITEC campus, ensuring that it meets the needs and expectations of foreign students and aligns with the institution's values and principles. The research culminated in an architectural proposal for student housing within the UNITEC campus, designed to meet the specific needs of foreign students. The design prioritizes safety, well-being, comfort, functionality, and adaptability, while promoting social interaction, collaborative learning, environmental sustainability, and connection to the natural environment. The architectural concept seeks to create a space that gives students the feeling of being at home, generating a sense of belonging and community, complementing and enhancing the university experience offered by UNITEC. The proposal aligns with the university's vision and values, aiming for synergy between academic training and the holistic development of students. Aspects such as accessibility, inclusion, and sustainability are considered to create an inclusive and environmentally responsible space. It is expected that the proposal will improve the quality of life and the university experience for foreign students, strengthen the university community at UNITEC, contribute to the urban development of Tegucigalpa, and represent a contribution to innovation and sustainability.
