Abstract
This project explores the use of portable EEG technology, specifically through the NeuroSky chip, to study canine cognition. The choice of the MindFlex device, originally intended for gaming, is based on its accessibility and adaptability for use with animals. The main objective was to evaluate the NeuroSky chip's ability to capture and process electroencephalographic signals in dogs of different ages, in order to investigate potential age-related cognitive differences. The study included adapting the MindFlex device for use in two dogs, one young and one adult. A prototype was designed and programmed that allowed for the capture, processing, and wireless transmission of the EEG signals. Signal processing techniques were used to analyze the data, and the results were compared using statistical analysis in Minitab software. The results encompass the schematic design of the prototype, the programming for the acquisition and wireless transmission of the signals, and finally the statistical comparison using Minitab software. The conclusions indicate that the prototype developed with the NeuroSky chip and other components for signal acquisition was capable of acquiring and processing electroencephalographic signals in two dogs of different ages. Significant differences were observed in the signals obtained from each, suggesting a need for a larger sample to expand the information obtained.
