Modelo de gestión integral para la modernización del transporte urbano en la ciudad de Choluteca, Honduras

The purpose of this work was to design a comprehensive management model for the modernization of the urban transportation system in the city of Choluteca, Honduras, responding to the need to improve the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of urban mobility. The research aimed to propose a structured plan based on the PMBOK® Seventh Edition Guide, allowing the integration of technological, structural, and institutional components into transportation management. Methodologically, a mixed approach was applied, using surveys and documentary review as data collection techniques, which provided a comprehensive understanding of the current state of transportation in the city. The main results revealed an obsolete vehicle fleet, deficiencies in road signage, limited technological implementation, and a lack of institutional coordination, which directly affected the quality of service. As a conclusion, it was determined that there was an urgent need to implement an intelligent transportation system that includes fleet renewal, the installation of smart traffic lights, and the adoption of electronic payment methods.
