For this reason, it is important that health personnel working in these units receive constant training. Since these are critical areas with highly restricted access, the idea arose to look for alternative tools to complement the learning of students and health workers in these areas. Virtual reality is a technological tool that allows designing or replicating real scenarios, so that the end user can have the experience of being either immersive, semi-immersive and/or non-immersive, in an environment very similar to the real one. In recent years the use of virtual reality has increased, and so has its application in the field of health and education. In order to know the opinion of the population of interest, surveys were applied to a sample of 75 students in the Biomedical Engineering program of Central American Technological University (UNITEC), and 8 members of the PICU health staff in the Honduran Institute of Social Security (IHSS). A positive response was obtained regarding the implementation of a virtual reality prototype at the IHSS, as well as in the Biomedical Engineering laboratory at UNITEC. Both groups considered that it would be a very useful tool that could complement interactive learning, which they would be willing to use. This research shows the process of development and creation of a 3D virtual reality environment based on the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of the IHSS. The creation of the environment was developed in Unity 3D platform, considering the characteristics of interest expressed by the respondents.
